Historic Seattle music venue and landmark directly across from Pike Place Market, operating since 1939, hosting concerts and events with a standing capacity of 1,130 in an Art Moderne interior.
History: Originally built in 1917 as the Central Public Market, a competitor to nearby Pike Place Market. Underwent a substantial Art Moderne remodel in 1939 and reopened as 'The Show Box' performance venue. Hosted legendary acts including Duke Ellington, Muddy Waters, and the Ramones. Granted Seattle landmark designation on July 17, 2019 after community campaign to prevent demolition. AEG Live has operated the venue since 2007. Also operates the sister venue Showbox SoDo (1700 1st Ave S) with 1,800 capacity.
